SHOW NOTES:

Genasys dives deep into the often-overlooked elements of branding that can transform a simple blog into a powerful platform for change and connection. Through personal anecdotes, she reflects on her own journey in the blogging world, revealing that her initial focus on making money led to a lack of fulfillment and authenticity.

This realization catalyzed a significant shift in her approach; she embraced the idea that branding is not merely about aesthetics, logos, or color schemes, but rather about identity, emotional connection, and the impact one wishes to make in the world.

Genasys emphasizes that a meaningful brand resonates deeply with its audience, creating a sense of belonging and trust that transcends mere transactional relationships. As she articulates, when bloggers align their values and passions with their branding, their work evolves from a job into a legacy, ultimately leading to financial success as a byproduct of genuine engagement and connection.

The discussion moves beyond personal reflections to challenge conventional perceptions of branding. Genasys highlights a critical point: many new bloggers underestimate the importance of knowing themselves and their audience before embarking on their branding journey.

Authentic branding, she argues, requires introspection and clarity about one’s purpose and the audience they wish to serve. She encourages her listeners to ask themselves poignant questions about their beliefs, passions, and the legacy they wish to create, reinforcing that these insights are foundational to establishing a brand that feels genuine and impactful.

By fostering emotional connections through storytelling and vulnerability, bloggers can create communities of loyal followers who are not just interested in products or services, but are invested in a shared mission and vision.

Hey there, blogging ladies.

Welcome back to another empowering episode of the Boss Lady Bloggers podcast, where we dive into strategies and mindsets to help you turn your blog into a profitable and purposeful business. I’m your host, Genasys, and today we’re going to be talking about something that hits very close to home for me.

The shocking truth about branding that no one is telling you. Now, I’m not just going to be speaking from a place of theory here.

Let me share a little bit of my story because I really think that this is going to help you understand just how powerful this truth really is. When I first started plastidy bloggers, I wasn’t thinking about impact or legacy or really helping somebody to transform their entire life, right?

I’ll be honest, it was just about making money for me.

I was, like many aspiring of bloggers, focused on affiliate marketing and ads with my very first blog as well, hoping that if I could just master those, that success would follow. But when I started boss ladybloggers, I quickly realized that chasing just the money didn’t sit right with me.

I felt like I was constantly chasing something, but I was not fulfilled. It wasn’t until I started combining branding and website design and blog coaching that the things really shifted for me.

I began to realize that my real passion wasn’t just about helping ladies create blogs, it was about helping them create meaningful brands that make an impact and blogs that could generate their own revenue from them helping others as well. And the more I leaned into that, the more that my work felt really aligned with my deeper purpose.

I discovered that branding isn’t just about business. It’s about helping others find themselves, uncover their true voice and use their blog to make a lasting impact on the world.

And when you do make this impact, when you find your voice and when you are all about helping others and you make a brand that will move people and make them feel things, that is when the money is going to follow. And of course you need to know strategy and you need to know all this knowledge and you need the step by step action plan, which is what I give you.

But what you truly need is a brand that is meaningful and then the money is going to follow. So boss lady bloggers evolved from a way to make just only money that was like my only focus.

Like I have to make money, like I don’t want to get a real job, I want to make money doing something that I love, but it turned into something that is so much bigger. And I’m so glad that I realized this because I wouldn’t have made money even if I knew all the knowledge and tools and tips in the world.

If I didn’t build a meaningful brand that people can really resonate with, then boss ladybuggers would not be as successful as it has been today. It turned into something so much more beautiful than I could ever imagine.

Me helping women build legacies, transforming their inner worlds, helping them change their lives through blogging, and building meaningful brands that truly make an impact on the people that they want to help through their blogs. So today I want to share with you the truth about branding that really nobody is talking about, the truth that I had to learn through my own journey.

It goes way beyond logos and colors. It’s about identity, the emotional connection that you can make with your readers, and the lasting impact that you truly want to make.

So by the end of this episode, you’re going to be walking away with a whole new perspective on branding, on blogging, on business, on literally everything that you want to do within your blogging business. And you’re going to just see how powerful it can be when you do it the right way.

So grab a notebook, get cozy, let’s dive into the shocking truth about branding that nobody is talking about right now.

Trust me, you’re not going to want to miss this conversation because I have a whole lot of empowerment and motivation and meaning behind everything that I’m about to say in this episode. It’s just flowing. It’s flowing out of me. So just wait. Because today, the energy in this room right now, I’m telling you, I’m excited about it.

So I hope you are too. Okay, so branding is more than just aesthetic. You will see a lot of things out there, a lot of aesthetically pleasing, beautiful brands.

But you will also see brands that are stunningly beautiful. And when you start reading their words, they fall short. They’re nothing. Right? Branding is more than that aesthetic. It’s your identity.

It’s who you are being. And I want to kick off by busting this big myth, okay? That is, branding is not anything. I mean, not just about your visuals.

Sure, having like a cohesive color scheme, logo, fonts and everything is important. That’s why I do it in the first place. Right? That’s why I help you with that. But if that’s all you focus on, you’re going to be missing a big point.

Because what nobody is telling you is that branding starts with who you are and what you truly stand for. The truth is, your brand is your identity as a whole. It’s the foundation that influences every single thing that you do.

From the way that you’re going to write your blog post, how you connect with your audience to the messages that you want to share. It’s the message that you send without even realizing it.

And most importantly, it’s how people feel what emotions they experience when they interact with your blog, your services or even you as the face of your brand.

Now this might sound a little uncomfortable, but here’s the real shocker that I want to tell you here is that if you don’t know who you are, you can’t effectively brand your business. And this is why so many people struggle with branding.

They think that slapping a logo on a website is enough, or slapping some colors on their website, or just starting a blog on a whim and not having any real meaning behind it. But you can’t effectively brand your business if you don’t know who you are. So let’s dig deeper, okay?

The truth is, unless you dig deep into your own purpose, your own values and your vision, your brand is always going to feel very disconnected with your readers and with you too. You’re going to be able to feel that energy.

So before we get into the visuals or the strategy, I want you to ask yourself these simple questions and really reflect on them. Okay? What do you believe in? What are you passionate about and what legacy and impact do you want your blog to create?

And the last one here is who do you want to leave this impact on? Who is that one specific person that you want to help and that you want to transform their entire life?

Without answers to these questions, your branding is never going to feel authentic. And more importantly, it’s not going to resonate with the right audience.

So when you nail down your identity and get clear on your values, every single thing else will fall into place.

Because people want to buy from a person who has beliefs, who is empowering, who has really impactful messages to share and opinions that differentiate from anybody else out there. Somebody who has the passion and drive and somebody who can lead a movement. So what movement do you want to create?

Okay, so now let’s talk about the power of emotional connection. Because this, I mean, nobody talks about this enough is branding is all about that emotional connection that you have with that person.

And the most successful brands, the one that build loyal audiences and thriving businesses, understand that they are not just selling products or services, they’re selling feelings, okay? Not products and services, feelings. That’s a big one. So let me explain.

People don’t make buying decisions based purely on logic, they buy from brands that they connect with emotionally on a deeper, deeper level. Whether they realize it or not.

Your audience is asking themselves, how does this brand make me feel so subconsciously, as soon as they land on your website, they are already thinking about how it makes them feel and if they want to stay or not. And here’s another shocking part.

If you’re only focused on selling or promoting yourself, you’re going to be missing out on branding and building that emotional connection. Because branding is not just about you. It’s about your audience.

It’s about understanding who they are and what they need and how your brand can make them feel seen, heard and supported. It’s all about creating that movement, okay?

Something that is so impactful, where you can believe in something all together and move in a way where it has so much meaning behind it.

If I was just selling my signature offer and I said, you’re going to get this, this, this, and that’s it, then you would say, okay, yeah, I get all these things, but what’s the real meaning behind it? And I would say, well, when you join my program, you reflect deeper on who you are. You build a brand that has meaning.

You will build, you know, ripple effects in the world because you’re going to be helping somebody with something and I’m going to stand behind your story and help you figure out this massive clarity where what truly, like do you want to create, what impact do you want to have?

And we’re going to build this amazing brand and website design that is not only going to get you the money results that will follow, but it starts with building that amazing brand and that’s what I’m going to help you with. And there’s meaning behind that, right?

And then after I’m going to give you six months of coaching so that we build this thing step by step in a way that, you know, you don’t have to keep going back. And because you missed things, you know, we are going to be starting this thing step by step, doing things the right way the first time.

And then I just want to help you to build a blogging business that has meaning behind it, but also makes you so much money and that is truly going to transform your life.

So I’m going to be mixing the branding element, the meaning element, building this beautiful thing that you want to create and helping you craft a message that you want to share mixed with all the strategy and tutorials and everything that goes behind, like, you know, actually building this thing and making money from it. So yeah, that’s what you want to do.

Like you want to sell something, of course, and make money from this, but you also want to have meaning behind it.

And like, so it’s about understanding who they are first and your beliefs too, and who you are and what they need from you and how you can make them feel seen, heard and super supported through this. And this is where most bloggers and business owners really fall short. They’re too focused on, what should I say, how do I look? Professional.

But they forget about the most crucial element of branding. Or they even forget branding altogether. Like, there’s so many just basic WordPress blogs out there that you just start and it’s just a basic blog.

Like, nobody wants to follow basic blogs anymore. Sure they might read your posts, but are they really going to become a loyal follower even if they sign up to your email list?

They’re just trying to get strategy from you or tips from you or whatever. But what is the real meaning behind it? That’s how you, you get people to stand with you, to stand for something with you.

That is where it’s more powerful, when you can create a blog and brand that has true meaning behind it.

That is when you get somebody to want to really buy from you and not just buy from you, like on a whim where like, okay, I’ll buy this thing, but then they never buy from you again. No. Who would want that?

You want to build a brand that like, when somebody buys from you, they want to buy from you again and again and stand with you and be that loyal fan and follower and go out there and tell other people about you. But it has to be a movement. It has to be meaning behind it. So don’t forget about the crucial element of branding.

How does your audience feel when they engage with you? So here are some ways that you can foster some emotional connection through your branding. Number one, you want to tell your story.

People connect with stories, not just products. Share your journey, your struggles and your wins. Be super vulnerable. When your audience feels like they know you, they trust you more.

They want to know the person behind the blog. They want to know the meaning behind it all. Why did you even start this thing? And I’m very open and honest with myself in my story.

Like, I started this lifestyle blog and you know, I went two years trying to just focus on the money of everything and that just really fell short. And then I finally realized, you know, after the two years that affiliate marketing and ads were not going to work for me.

It was actually about building a business. And then I got into like the branding side of things and how to actually like invoke emotions in my readers.

And then that is what helped me to sell my product of my blog coaching.

And if I didn’t do that, if I stuck with affiliate marketing and ads and, you know, the lifestyle blog and speaking to no one and not really having, you know, that one specific person that I was speaking to and the one person I want to help and then creating this movement of why I even wanted to help people with their brands and website designs, then I wouldn’t have been here. And I’m open and honest and I’m vulnerable and sharing about all my stories and what I struggle with. Like, this is really hard, this is not easy.

It is not easy to build a business and build this blog and build this brand. Like, it is not easy. But step by step, every single day you grow, you grow with yourself. It is completely a growth personal transformation for you.

Going on this journey of starting a blogging business, like it will help you put a mirror up to your face and like look at who you really are, what do you really want? And you have to figure that out. And the only way you will do that is if you just go step by step every single day, bite size pieces.

And that is what my signature offer does for you. We go step by step slowly because you want to build a brand with meaning and it takes time to do that.

And meaning and branding and strategy and a proper website design. But you want to also show up authentically. Don’t try to be somebody that you’re not.

Let your personality shine through in your content, your emails, your interactions. Authenticity is super magnetic. If you just show up and just share, people are going to resonate with you.

If you think that you’re a weirdo, awesome, I want to see your weirdness. If you think that you are very shy and timid and calm, awesome, I want to see that in you. Whoever you are, just share that. Whatever you believe in.

If you have certain opinions of the world or certain opinions of whatever topic you’re talking about, share and don’t be afraid. Be authentic. And that’s when people are going to really resonate with you and also be consistent in your values.

So make sure that your brand stands for something and then stick to it.

Whether it’s promoting self care, advocating for sustainability, or helping others find their voice, or empowering others, or body positivity or whatever it is, let your values guide every single thing that you do. The emotional connection is key, is the key that turns casual readers into loyal fans and loyal customers.

Without it, your brand is just another blog in the sea of blogs. And we don’t want that. We want to stand out. We want to actually make this thing profitable, right?

We still have the goal of making money, but if there is no meaning behind it, we won’t. Meaning and strategy your brand is a promise. Okay, let’s talk about this.

So a surprising truth that you probably don’t even know about is that your brand is a promise. It’s a promise to your audience about the experience that they can expect from you.

Every single time somebody lands on your blog or interacts with your content, they’re going to be subconsciously looking for consistency. Your branding sets the expectation. It’s your job to follow through on that promise every single time.

If your blog promises to help your readers find clarity and confidence in their blogging journey, then everything that you do, from your blog post, to your coaching sessions, to your emails, to your podcast, to whatever you do in your blog and business, should reflect on that specific mission.

If your brand is about creating a community of empowered lady bloggers, then your language, your visuals and your interactions and every single thing that you do all need to make your audience feel very empowered and part of something really special. So here’s the shocker. Inconsistency is what kills the trust.

If your audience gets mixed messages all the time, they won’t know what to expect from you. And that confusion can quickly lead to distrust. And I’m going to be open and honest with you right here.

This is what I worry about a lot of the time because I haven’t been able to find that true consistency in boss lady bloggers where, you know, one moment I want to like always talk about monetization and one moment I always want to talk about, you know, branding and meaning and impact and, you know, making an impact on the world. And I can’t really find that, like medium, but I’m really trying. And it doesn’t have to be perfect, okay? I’m not saying it does. I am not perfect.

My brand is not perfect. Nothing is perfect.

But I have a vision and I know that every single day I am going to take step by step, bite size steps to get to that vision, you know, and I’m sharing my message in whatever feels like, like whatever is coming from my heart that is now like the movement that I want to create in boss lady bloggers.

And I see that now is I just want to share from my heart and soul and whatever God is giving me and help you build a meaningful login business that also makes a lot of money. But it’s so crucial to stay consistent in how you show up and what you say and how you deliver on these messages and promises.

Whether it’s through your content, your visuals or the way that you engage with your audience. Consistency really is key. And like I said, it doesn’t have to be perfect, but you have to strive for it every day.

Now let’s talk about the next truth. And it’s going to challenge you about the way that you think about branding.

It’s the real purpose of branding isn’t to make money, it’s to make an impact. So let that sink in for a moment. Yes, your blog can be super profitable and it should be profitable.

But if profit is your only goal, your brand is going to feel hollow. The most powerful brands are the ones that are really focused on something bigger than just making money.

They’re driven by purpose, a mission to create change. And that’s what’s going to draw people in. So here’s the thing that nobody is telling you. When you focus on impact, the money then follows impact.

First, money will follow. Think about the most iconic brands that you know. Okay, everybody knows Apple.

They’re not just selling technology, they’re about innovation and challenging the status quo. And Nike, for example, isn’t just about selling the shoes. They’re about inspiring people to push their limits.

So when you focus on how you can truly make a difference in your audience’s lives, you build a brand that people want to be part of. This is especially true for bloggers.

Your blog has the potential to change lives, not just by offering tips or advice, but by offering inspiration, hope and a sense of belonging. And that’s why it’s so important to align your brands with your values and your vision.

When you’re clear on the impact that you want to make, your brand becomes more than just a business, it becomes a legacy. So ask yourself, what impact do I want to make with my blog? And how can I use my platform to create positive change?

These answers to these questions are going to shape your brand in ways that no visual element could ever. So here’s the last truth that I want to share with you today, and this one might be the most freeing of all, is branding is an ongoing evolution.

It’s not something that you do once and then forget about. It’s something that grows with you. It shifts with your audience and evolves as your blog and business grow.

And as you grow, not just in your knowledge, but in your self growth and development.

And that will happen because starting a blogging business is really going to like help you put a mirror up to your face and see everything that’s inside, positive and negative. You know, maybe this is going to help you see that. Maybe you’re not as organized as you thought. I’m.

Maybe you’re not as responsible as you thought or maybe you’re not, you know, as motivated or I mean, whatever it is, whatever the junk that you have inside, it’s going to show through starting a blog in business. I promise you that. It happened to me, happens to everybody.

And it also shows you, like, how motivated you really can be or how dedicated you can be to doing this and never giving up. And, yeah, I don’t know, there’s just so many things, like on a deeper surface that you will go through on a deeper level.

And yeah, I mean, it’s a blessing, but it’s also not very easy. And that is what something that nobody really talks about is.

We often are told that, like once we have our brand, you know, figured out, or once we start this blog or blah, blah, blah, blah, that it’s set in stone. But the truth is that your brand and everything is going to change over time as you grow as a person inside and as your blog grows. And that’s okay.

That’s completely okay.

As you gain the clarity on your purpose and connect deeper with your audience and discover new passions that you might have, your brand is going to naturally evolve and so will that important message. It’s a living, breathing entity that reflects not only who you are, but who you are becoming.

So don’t be afraid to pivot, to rebrand or to shift your focus as you grow. I mean, it’s going to come, so just let it happen. Just flow with it. It’s not a sign of failure or inconsistency. It’s a sign of growth.

The key is to stay true to your core values and keep that emotional connection with your audience intact. So there you have it. That’s all I want to share today. And I hope that it was super motivating and inspirational and impactful on you.

But yeah, that’s the shocking truth about branding that nobody is telling you. It’s not about the visuals or the logo or even the color palette. That’s strategy.

But it’s about who you are, how you make your audience feel and the impact that you truly are here to create. Branding is about connection, consistency and impact.

And when you nail those three things, everything else is going to follow into place, including the money. And the best part? You don’t have to have it all figured out right now because it’s a journey.

But we won’t call it that because, you know, I like to avoid cliches around here. But anyways, it really is a journey and it’s just a step by step commitment to your vision.

So as you continue building your blog, remember, focus on who you are, what you stand for and how you can make a difference in the lives of your audience. Because when you do that, you’re not just building a brand, you’re building a legacy. And then the money is going to follow. Okay? I promise.
