Are you wondering “do you make money from blogging? And how?” Are you wondering if you can make money from it? The answer is yes, you can make money from blogging. However, it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme and requires hard work, dedication, and patience.
There are several ways to make money from blogging, such as display advertising, affiliate marketing, sponsored content, and selling products or services.
Even though there are several ways to make money from blogging, it’s important to note that not ALL of these ways are going to work for you. Some take time to see income, some are quicker, and some aren’t ever going to work. In this post, I’ll break it down for you.
All in all, making money from blogging takes time. You won’t start earning money right away, and it may take several months or even years to build up a significant income.
However, if you’re passionate about your niche and willing to put in the effort, you can turn your blog into a profitable business.
As a blogging coach, it is my job to ensure that you make money blogging in the quickest way possible. Read further, and you’ll begin to understand how.
If you’re looking to make money from your blog, you need to understand the basics of blogging for profit.
Blogging for profit involves creating content that attracts a large audience, and then finding ways to monetize that audience.
One of the most important things to keep in mind when blogging for profit is that your content needs to be high-quality and valuable. This means that you should focus on creating content that is helpful, informative, and engaging.
Writing will be the KEY to your business. Without good content writing, your blog will suffer. This is the very backbone of your blog.
Writing is important in your blogging business for these reasons:
So if you’re wondering “do you make money with blogging?“, the answer is yes. You do. But you need to first focus on your writing skills first.
Another important aspect of blogging for profit is building a loyal audience. Without people to see your blog posts or other form of content that you choose to create, then you won’t make money.
With every form of blog monetization, you will need people to know you exist, trust you, and LOVE your blog.
This is why you need to create MEANING behind your blog. Something that goes deeper than giving them tips.
You need to demonstrate strong beliefs for your brand so that others can stand for something too.
This leads me back to the blog post writing skill. In order to do this in a way that is effective, you need to first focus on writing content.
Remember, not just any content though… really GOOD content that makes your readers say “WOW”.
You need to really put your effort and time into writing good content that keeps your readers attention.
WHY?
Because when someone comes to your blog, doesn’t like what they see, they will leave and never return.
When someone lands on your blog content and loves what they read, they will binge read all of your blog posts, check out your sales page for your product, sign up to your freebies, follow you on social media, and begin to build the like, know, and trust factor which is important for blog monetization.
There are many different ways to monetize a blog, and the best approach will depend on your niche, audience, and goals. Here are some popular monetization models to consider:
It’s important to note that monetizing your blog takes time and effort.
You won’t start earning money overnight, and you’ll need to be patient and persistent in order to see results.
However, with the right approach and a commitment to creating high-quality content, you can build a successful blog that generates income for years to come.
Do you make money from blogging? YUP! When you know what you’re doing and you don’t waste your time on monetization strategies that take years for you to make a decent monthly income.
If you want to make money from your blog, you need to set it up for monetization from the very beginning. Here are a few steps to help you get started:
Choosing a niche that is profitable is one of the most important steps in setting up your blog for monetization.
You should choose a niche that you are passionate about and that has a large audience.
You can use tools like Google Trends and Google Keyword Planner to find out what people are searching for and what topics are popular.
I know that “choosing a niche” is a popular topic in the blogging space these days. Do you need a niche? Do you not need a niche? What’s the dang answer already?
My answer: Honestly, choose whatever you want to do!
In my experience, my blog has done a lot better as a niched site because I talk about topics that fall underneath the blogging category.
However, I know a lot of bloggers do insanely well who are lifestyle bloggers too.
Don’t let it hold you back if niching down is hard for you right now as a beginner blogger.
Just write about what you want to and eventually you will find the topic you love to write about most.
It will be best to write blog posts about topics that are directly related to whatever you are selling. So if you’re offering business coaching, your blog posts should be on topics of business to call in the reader.
Or if you are selling an eBook on cleaning, you’re blog posts should be about cleaning so you can put call to actions within that blog post for them to purchase.
See what I mean?
Creating high-quality content is essential if you want to make money from your blog.
You should aim to create content that is informative, engaging, and valuable to your readers.
You can use different formats like blog posts, videos, infographics, and podcasts to keep your content fresh and interesting.
Writing content is the backbone to your entire blogging business and this is what bloggers don’t realize. They think that it’s completely okay to skip out on writing content frequently and ghosting your audience.
Just remember this: The more content you write, the beter results you will have. The more you ghost your blog, the longer it will take to reach the amount of blog traffic and income you want to make on your blog.
For everything you do in your blogging business, you will need to write content.
What I recommend is to start with a pillar piece of content. This is your MAIN content piece for the week.
Such as, a long form blog post that is 1800+ words in length.
Or you could even start with a newsletter or podcast.
Then you can repurpose this piece of content to every other platform.
I know a business owner whose strategy is like this:
This is the most PERFECT strategy for your content in 2024. It’s so smart.
You do not need to write several different pieces of content for each platform. You only need to write ONE long form piece of content per week and then repurpose it easily to EVERY platform. It’s so simple.
It’s a strategy I’m definitely taking on for 2024.
All in all, you need content. You need to be writing content every day. Especially if you are not the best writer (like me).
It takes practice to write really good blog posts. And it’s a skill that you will need in order to succeed espeically with all the AI tools you can use now a days to push out content.
NOTE: Google recently published an article/ update saying that they are prioritizing HELPFUL and unique content written FOR humans. AI doesn’t EVER write for humans. So step away from the Chat GPT and the AI writing tools because you need to write amazing content ON YOUR OWN.
Optimizing your blog for search engines is crucial if you want to attract organic traffic to your blog.
You should use relevant keywords in your content, optimize your images, and use meta tags and descriptions to help search engines understand what your content is about.
You should also focus on creating a user-friendly website that loads quickly and is easy to navigate.
Most bloggers believe they will rank if they JUST publish content consistently on their blog.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but publishing a weekly blog post and optimizing it for SEO is not going to help you rank anymore.
Your blog posts need to be HELPFUL. And what is “helpful” content?
Blog articles exceeding 1800 words not only captivate your audience but also leave them feeling satisfied by addressing their concerns.
These substantial posts not only keep readers engaged but also provide effective solutions to the problems they may be facing.
And I get it, I completely understand not being a “good enough” writer or having enough time to push out good content like this, trust me.
I do not believe myself to be a very good writer but the more I write, the better I am becoming.
It takes practice. You should write blog posts everyday.
I also understand what it takes for a blog post to truly rank on search engines. Read more about SEO here.
The main point of this section: The more SEO optimized blog posts you write on a frequent basis, the more blog traffic you will get.
And the more blog traffic you get = more money from blogging.
But not just ANY people coming to your blog. People who find your content helpful.
If you’re wondering how to make money blogging, there are several monetization strategies you can use. In this section, we’ll cover three popular options: Affiliate Marketing, Selling Digital Products, and Offering Services.
Affiliate marketing is a popular way to monetize a blog. It involves promoting other people’s products and earning a commission for each sale made through your unique affiliate link.
However, it’s important to note that affiliate marketing is not a get-rich-quick scheme. It takes time to build an audience and establish trust with your readers.
One common mistake bloggers make with affiliate marketing is promoting too many products.
Your readers will quickly lose trust if they feel like you’re just trying to make a quick buck.
Instead, focus on promoting products that are relevant to your niche and that you genuinely believe in and USE.
Another issue with affiliate marketing is that you need high amounts of blog traffic.
LONG GONE are the days when you can just publish a blog post, insert affiliate links, and PRAY that you somehow make enough money blogging to cover your bills.
In 2024, the monetization strategy takes building an actual BUSINESS that sells your OWN offers. This is how blogs are built to make $1000+ months in income.
If you want to have a side hustle and creative outlet and that is your only goal, sure… throw ALL your eggs in one little basket and insert those affiliate links.
But if you’re someone who wants to build an actual BUSINESS from your blog, then it’s time to buckle down and actually get serious.
Overall, you can do what you want. But remember this: If you want to make money from blogging with affiliate markeitng, you need a lot of blog traffic coming to your blog each month.
And how do you do that? By writing A LOT of SEO optimized blog posts each week and by focusing heavily on publishing a lot of Pinterest pins each day.
Selling digital products is another popular way to monetize a blog. It is also my favorite way to make money from blogging.
This can include ebooks, courses, printables, and more.
The key to success with digital products is to create something that is valuable to your readers and that they are willing to pay for.
One advantage of selling digital products is that they can be created once and sold many times.
This means that once you’ve put in the work to create your product, you can continue to earn money from it for years to come.
To be successful with selling digital products, you’ll need just a few things:
It’s really that simple.
If you haven’t made money from one of your digital products, I can promise you that you don’t have one or more of these 4 things in place.
If you have recieved some purchases from your digital product but not a lot, maybe you have a blog traffic and content problem.
If you have received ZERO purchases but you DO have blog traffic and good content, then maybe you have an offer or messaging problem.
Contact me here and I’ll tell you what the reason is why you’re not making money from blogging.
Offering services is another way to monetize your blog. Also my favorite way to make money blogging. I can’t decide, okay?
This can include freelance writing, consulting, coaching, and more.
The advantage of offering services is that you can start earning money right away, without having to create a product or build an audience. AMAZING, right?
To be successful with offering services, you’ll need to have a clear understanding of your niche and your target audience. You need to understand their pain points, goals, and the exact way they communicate these in their OWN words.
How can you do this? By doing market research and actually speaking to and building relationships with your ideal client.
You’ll also need to have excellent communication skills and be able to deliver high-quality work.
One potential downside of offering services is that there is a limit to how much you can earn. There are only so many hours in the day, and you can only work with a limited number of clients.
However, when you strategically diversify your monetization strategies and use a combination of ALL the above, you can ensure that you make money blogging no matter what.
Example:
Do you make money from blogging? Yup, I do it with that strategy above and you can too.

If you want to make money from your blog, simply having a blog is not enough.
You need to focus on maximizing your revenue by building an audience, increasing engagement, and analyzing your strategies.
Here are some tips to help you maximize your revenue:
The first step in maximizing your revenue is to build an audience.
This means creating content that your target audience will enjoy and share.
You can use keyword research to identify the topics that your audience is interested in and create content around those topics.
SEO is the number ONE thing you need to focus on which means writing frequent and helpful content each week on your blog.
Pinterest is the second thing you need to focus on to drive traffic to your blog.
ALL blog posts should promote a freebie so that you can get email subscribers.
If you’re a blogger and you’re neglecting your email list, you can kiss making money blogging bye bye.
“The Money is in the List”.
Think about it, those that sign up to a freebie are 100% interested in the topics you write about. The number one way to build a loyal audinece around your blog is through writing regular email newsletters that drive people back to your blog.
And when your audience see’s your emails, blog posts, and other forms of content you advertise? They will be more likely to hire you or purchase from you.
Engagement and community building are crucial for maximizing your revenue.
You need to create a sense of community around your blog and engage with your audience.
This means responding to comments, asking for feedback, and creating content that encourages discussion.
You can also use social media to engage with your audience and build a community.
Long are the days where you can just publish content to your blog and leave it at that, no.
You need to build relationships with your audinece. You need to be SPEAKING to them.
This is why I love podcasting and starting personal conversations in the DMs on Instagram.
I know this sounds intmidating for those who are an introvert (I am too) but it’s simple once you get the hang of it.
Analytics and adjusting strategies are essential for maximizing your revenue.
You need to track your traffic, engagement, and revenue to identify what is working and what is not.
You can use tools like Google Analytics (or my personal fav- Fathom Analytics – read why here) to track your traffic and engagement.
When you keep track of the blog posts that your target readers enjoy, you want to ALWAYS create more and more of that piece of content and share it everywhere- always!
This is a strategy that helped me grow rapidly.
In conclusion, if you want to make money from your blog, you need to focus on maximizing your revenue.
This means building an audience, increasing engagement, and analyzing your strategies.
With the right strategies and tools, you can turn your blog into a profitable business.
Blogging can be a great way to make money, but it is important to keep in mind the legal and ethical considerations that come along with it.
DISCLAIMER: I am not a lawyer and every state is different. It’s in your best interest to speak with a lawyer about the legalities of blogging.
Here are some things to keep in mind:
As a blogger, you are required to disclose any relationships you have with companies or products you are promoting.
This can include sponsored posts, affiliate links, or any other type of compensation you receive for promoting a product.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires bloggers to disclose this information in a clear and conspicuous manner.
This means you should include a disclosure statement at the beginning of your post or in a prominent location on your website.
It is important to have a privacy policy on your blog to inform your readers about the information you collect and how it is used.
This can include information such as cookies, log files, and personal information collected through forms or comments.
Make sure your privacy policy is clear and easy to understand. You can use a template or hire a lawyer to help you create a privacy policy that meets your specific needs.
When creating content for your blog, it is important to respect the intellectual property of others.
This means you should not use copyrighted images, videos, or text without permission.
You should also make sure to properly attribute any content you use that is not your own.
Additionally, it is important to protect your own intellectual property by registering trademarks, copyrights, and patents if applicable.
By keeping these legal and ethical considerations in mind, you can ensure that your blog is compliant with the law and respectful of your readers and fellow content creators.

Sponsored content takes a lot of blog traffic AND social media followers.
