We can all agree that writing the About page is the hardest part of creating your blog, right?

(I’m guessing you know exactly what it’s like to stare at a blank screen, overthink every word, and wonder if your story is even worth telling—or you wouldn’t be here on the Boss Lady Bloggers blog right now.)

BEFORE WE DIVE INTO THE DETAILS…

Here's a lil secret: the best About pages aren’t the ones that read like a stiff resume or a highlight reel of your achievements.

They’re the ones that sound like you—the messy, imperfect, human you.

The kind that makes your readers think, “Omg, same!” instead of, “Cool story, next.”

Your About page is where you get to pull back the curtain, share the real you, and lay the foundation for a connection that turns casual readers into loyal fans (and, eventually, paying clients/customers).

Your readers want to know the real person behind the blog before they trust your advice or buy from you. Not some airbrushed, “I-have-my-life-together” version of yourself, but the messy, relatable, perfectly imperfect you.

So, let’s do this the right way—my way.

So, with that being said… let me show you what makes me a "gloriously"
imperfect human.

Because, spoiler alert: I’m just like you.

Hey, I'm Genasys!

about the blog coach and web designer

I’m a chocolate-obsessed, toddler mom who struggles hard with constantly changing my mind and pivoting. (Shoutout to my fellow overthinkers!)

I love food—like, it’s a real problem—and if I could plan my day around delicious chocolate lava cake, I absolutely would.

I’m a new-ish mom who just moved into a little apartment with my 2-year-old. Glamorous?  Not so much.
You’re not going to find me sipping cocktails on a beach with my laptop anytime soon. I mean, I have done that before, but let’s be honest—that’s just not my current life.

Most days, I’m chasing my toddler around the house, begging him to eat literally anything, and occasionally bribing him with screen time so I can actually get cleaning done. (Because, really, how else am I supposed to survive?)

Oh, and another fun fact: I have no friends. Okay, maybe my mom counts, and my clients are kind of my besties by default. But I’m rooting for myself to find a sweet old-lady friend one day. You know, the kind where we take knitting classes together and talk about the weather like it’s fascinating.

So, yeah, that’s me—real, imperfect, and figuring it all out one day (and one cake) at a time.

Does that sound like enough personal, real, and raw info for now?

Alrighty then, let’s move on—because while I’m an open book, this page isn’t just about me. It’s about how I can help you. Let’s get to the good stuff, shall we?

A “figured-it-out-the-hard-way” moment.

I’m qualified, I swear.

(Because building a blog, brand, and business from scratch while juggling real life? Yeah, I’ve been there—and now it’s what I help others do every day.)

Through all the messy pivots, late-night brainstorms, and moments of how the heck do I do this?, I’ve learned what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to building a blog and turning it into a real, money-making business.

But let me take you back for a minute—because my love for writing didn’t start here. It started way back in 7th grade. I was the kid who couldn’t get enough of journaling, crafting short stories for class assignments, and filling up my very own book of poems. Writing was my thing. It made me feel creative, alive, and like I had something worth saying.

If you don’t count my heartfelt journal entries about middle school drama or the poem I wrote about snowflakes in English class as my “origin story,” then allow me to share more with you, shall I? Because that passion for storytelling is exactly what brought me here today.

Let’s start from the beginning.

In 2017, I started my very first blog on an old 2010 MacBook, sitting in the basement apartment I was renting from my aunt. I didn’t have a job, and I definitely didn’t have money. What I did have, though, was determination. I was desperate to figure out how to make money from home, and I spent hours—days—researching every possible option. That’s when I stumbled upon blogging.

It felt like the perfect fit. I’ve always loved writing (I was the 7th grader journaling daily, filling up poem books, and turning in creative stories for class assignments), and the idea of turning that passion into income? Sign me up.

But, let me tell you—it was not a walk in the park.

I spent two whole years working on that first blog, pouring my heart into it, only to end up with nothing to show for it financially. Why? Because I put all my eggs into one basket—affiliate marketing and ads—and neither of those worked for me. Even with a decent amount of traffic coming to my blog every month, I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted.

After two years of spinning my wheels, I’d had enough. I realized I couldn’t keep winging it, hoping things would magically fall into place. So, I made a decision: I was going to invest in learning about business. And what I learned completely changed my perspective.

Business > Side Hustle Blog.

If you want your blog to actually make money, you have to get serious about it. Treat it like a real business, not a hobby. That means creating your own offers instead of relying on affiliate marketing, and learning how to have others be affiliates for you.

That mindset shift? It changed everything.

Fast forward to now, and I have a six-figure business doing exactly what I love—teaching others how to properly monetize their blogs and avoid the mistakes I made. Along the way, I also learned the importance of branding and website design.

A strong brand and a professional website aren’t just nice extras—they’re necessary. They help you stand out, build trust, and attract the right audience. When your blog looks polished and your message is clear, you’re setting yourself up for success.

Now, I get to combine everything I’ve learned—monetization strategies, branding, website design, and blog coaching—to help others turn their blogs into businesses they love.

And I can’t wait to help you do the same.

Now, why do you need me?

I probably should have started with this, right? Oh well—better late than never. Let me paint a picture for you.

You have big dreams for your blog. Maybe you want to grow an engaged audience, turn readers into buyers, and finally make money doing something you love. Buuuut… you’re not exactly sure where to start. And the whole “blogging as a business” thing? It feels overwhelming, like trying to put together IKEA furniture without the instructions.

You’ve got ideas, but they’re all over the place. You think you know who your audience is, but figuring out how to actually get their attention (and keep it)? That’s a whole other story. Meanwhile, your to-do list is growing, your website is unfinished, and the “monetize my blog” dream feels more like a nice fantasy than a real plan.

Sound familiar?

Here’s where I come in. I’m here to help you turn your blog into a thriving, money-making business—with a brand that makes an impact, a website that works for you, and a clear plan to create offers your audience can’t wait to buy.

And when I say I’ll help you do it right, I mean backed by strategy, research, and everything I’ve learned about blogging, branding, and business. No fluff, no guessing, just actionable steps that get you results.

From Blog to Business: My Plot Twist

GOOD FOR THE PLOT

Starting a blog and building a business has to be one of the most ridiculously nerve-wracking, overwhelming, what-if-I-mess-this-up decisions ever. It feels so huge, right? Like, this one choice will shape everything—your future, your brand, your life.

So, naturally, I did what I always do—jumped in headfirst without a perfect plan and figured it out along the way. That’s how all my best decisions have been made.

(Others include: starting my first blog on a 2010 MacBook with no idea what I was doing, deciding to leave a relationship of eight years, moving into my own place with a toddler in terrible 2s, and somehow turning all of that chaos into a six-figure business. You get the point.)

Looking back? Every one of those moments wasn’t just a leap—it was a plot twist that brought me exactly where I’m supposed to be. And if you’re ready to take your leap and build your own plot twist, I’m here to help you make it happen.

Setting the Scene

Starting a blog sounds easy enough, right? You pick a name, write a few posts, and watch the readers roll in. Except… that’s not exactly how it goes. Instead, you find yourself drowning in a sea of conflicting SEO advice, wondering if your niche is “too niche,” and googling things like “how to actually make money blogging” at 2 a.m. Suddenly, your simple idea feels overwhelming, and you’re stuck wondering if you’ll ever figure it out.

So naturally, I did what I always do—jumped in headfirst with no real plan and decided I’d “figure it out as I go.” My best (and occasionally worst) decisions always start like this.

(This includes starting my first blog on a 2010 MacBook in my aunt’s basement, thinking affiliate links were my ticket to financial freedom, and attempting to potty train a toddler while working from home… you get the idea.)

The Plot Thickens

Fast forward two years: I had a blog, a decent amount of traffic, and… absolutely no income. I had poured all my time and energy into affiliate marketing and ads, only to realize they weren’t working for me. Frustration doesn’t even begin to cover it—I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and ready to throw in the towel.

But then I realized the problem: I wasn’t treating my blog like a business. I was treating it like a side hustle, hoping it would magically grow into something bigger on its own.

Spoiler alert: it doesn’t work that way.

So, I made a choice. I invested in learning the business side of blogging, revamped my entire strategy, and shifted my focus to creating offers that aligned with my audience and my goals.

The Resolution

That shift changed everything. I stopped relying on pennies from affiliate links and instead created my own offers that people couldn’t wait to buy. And let me tell you, watching your passion turn into a profitable business? There’s nothing like it.

Now, I’ve taken everything I learned through years of trial and error and turned it into a six-figure business where I help other bloggers skip the overwhelm and fast-track their success. Because your blog can be so much more than just a creative outlet—it can be the foundation of a business that gives you the income, freedom, and impact you’ve been dreaming of.

And the best part? You don’t have to figure it out alone. That’s exactly what I’m here for.
